Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Ovant, a job search tool run by Brian Fung. Using Ovant means you agree to them.
What Ovant is
Ovant helps you run a job search: track roles and companies, import postings, keep a profile of your experience, and generate resumes for specific jobs. It is early software, and it is invite-only.
Plans and billing
Ovant has a free plan and paid plans. A plan changes one thing: how much the AI features may spend for you each month. Paid plans are billed monthly through Clerk, which uses Stripe to process the payment; we never see your card details. You can cancel at any time from your account, your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, and it does not renew after that. Payments are not refunded once a period has started. Prices are shown on the Plan page before you pay, and if they change we'll tell you before you're charged a new amount.
Your account
You need an invite code to get in, and you sign in through Clerk. One account per person. Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us if someone else gets into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.
What you can't do
- Upload someone else's personal information without their permission.
- Try to reach another user's private data, or work around the invite system.
- Scrape the site, hammer it with automated requests, or try to break it.
- Use intro requests or job suggestions to spam other users.
- Post anything illegal, or anything you don't have the right to post.
- Impersonate someone else.
Breaking any of these is grounds for us to suspend or close your account.
Your content
Everything you put into Ovant stays yours. You give us permission to store it, show it back to you, and process it so the app works, which includes sending the relevant parts to the services named in the privacy policy.
Some of what you add is shared by design. Companies you add to the directory and job postings you import become part of a list every Ovant user can see and use, and they stay there. Keep private information out of them.
AI output is a draft
Generated resumes, extracted job details and suggested titles come from a language model. They can be wrong, out of date, or invented. Read anything before you send it to an employer. What you submit is your responsibility.
Job postings from other sites
Importing a link makes Ovant read the public page and save what it finds. We are not affiliated with any employer or job board, we don't control what they publish, and we can't promise a posting is current, accurate or genuine. Apply through the employer.
Availability
Ovant is under active development. Features change, and the service can be interrupted or unavailable. We may add, alter or remove parts of it. If we ever shut Ovant down, we'll give you notice and a way to get your data out.
Ending it
You can stop using Ovant whenever you like, and email us to have your account deleted. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop running the service.
No warranty
Ovant is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. We don't promise it will find you a job, that its matches will be right, or that it will always be available.
Limits
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including missed job opportunities, lost offers or lost data. Our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Changes
We'll update this page and the date at the top when these terms change. Carrying on with Ovant after that means you accept the new version.
